How do you get experience in CBT in order to study CBT? In the UK

I'm thinking of doing a Masters in CBT after my psychology/spanish degree. Thing is to do the Masters requires -
"12 months mental health related work experience and be currently working/volunteering in practice using CBT or Cognitive Behavioural skills.
Students will be required to use CBT skills within their work/voluntary placement setting and will need to access supervised practice."
But surely to get such a position requires a degree in the first place? Am I being dense? Anybody in the UK who can help me out understanding my options?
Thanks
Without knowing which Masters course it is I can't say whether this is relevant, but some CBT courses are designed specifically for NHS trainee therapists. You apply for a salaried trainee position, having gained some basic experience with the client group (not experience of CBT as such - working as a mental health care assistant would count). If your application is successful they enrol you on a CBT masters or diploma. The NHS provide a pdf with the details.
There are also people who have trained in another profession, such as mental health nursing, who may enrol on a CBT masters because they already have access to an appropriate client group.
