Small lovely gift that can be delivered today in Berkeley?

I just realized that a friend's birthday is TODAY, and I'd like to know if there's a way I could order something to be delivered to him in Berkeley. Yes, there are flowers, and fruity edible arrangements, and maybe even singing telegrams. But might there be anything else, something that has a bit of artsy quirky Bay Area magic to it? A teensy letter from The World's Tiniest Postal Service (thumbtackpress.com) would have been lovely if I had only a bit more time. Any ideas for something a bit unexpected and sweet? Many thanks!

You could totally call Pedal Express, explain your situation, and see if they have suggestions. They are really nice, awesome, down-to-earth folks and are probably very clued in to lesser known deliverable items.

Best answer: Speaking as a birthday-haver, sometimes the best gifts are the ones that come a little bit late, after all the emails and social network notifications, after the obligatory office best wishes, and the moment when, as the birthday haver, you expect attention. Sometimes, it's very nice to get a remembrance when you've gone back to being just a regular person. Somehow it says, "See, you're special all the time. Hooray for being you!"

So, my vote would be The World's Tiniest Postal Service, lead time be damned. If it's perfect, it's perfect.

Don't undersell flowers or food magically appearing at your doorstep. As a guy, I would appreciate this, but I might appreciate flowers and good food more than your friend.

Maybe you could find an Etsy seller in his area who would be willing to deliver for an extra fee.
