Where to get Haircut and lip waxed in Roxbury, Boston MA on the CHEAP?

I am new BU Med student and just moved to Boston- in the Roxbury neighborhood. I need to get my hair cut and styled and my lip waxed on the cheap, ASAP. I am used to getting these service done in Chicago in different ethnic areas for super cheap. So where to go and how can I get there from the Roxbury area or Med campus? Thanks!

You might need to provide a little more information - what is your definition of cheap? Do you have access to a car, or are you relying on public transport? Are you looking for hairstylists catering to a particular ethnicity?

I dont have specific recommendations, but you may want to try any of these:

BU Medical center is not far from Chinatown - take the Orange Line from Ruggles or Mass Ave, or the Silver Line (S15 i think, but use the MBTA's trip planner) - wander around there and try any of the numerous salons, or check on Yelp for ratings.

Roxbury Center should have a bunch of options in different price ranges.

Further afield, Watertown has a couple of eyebrow/lip threading salons (assuming you're open to threading) - one is right in Watertown Sq across from the end point of the #71 bus (take the bus from Harvard Sq, which is on the Red Line). I think a lip thread is about $10. There's also a chain of mall-based threading places for similar prices called the Threading Spa. Cambridgeside Galleria is very easily accessible on the Green Line - Lechmere stop.
