I've got a few Fridays free this summer that will coincide with Ashes matches. Where are some good spots to watch the cricket in London?

I don't have Sky, and as much as I love TMS, I have craving to actually watch some cricket for once.

My local is showing it on their tellies, but it's also not the sort of pub that a girl can sit in on her own with a good book and a laptop and spend all day reading, writing, refreshing online commentary and drinking long, slow, cold drinks. So I'm looking for recommendations for other places I can go.

It doesn't have to be a pub, are there any big screens anywhere showing it?

I've quizzed Mr FB, and he suggests The Faltering Fullback in Finsbury Park and The Water Poet near Liverpool Street. I'd check that they're actually showing the cricket before you head over though.

I think the Fullback's a good suggestion. I know it's a little different, but as a male with social anxiety disorder I'm a little picky over pubs that I'd go into on my own for a quiet drink with a good book. It does have a large room with benches and a screen. It gets rammed for football etc, but Friday daytime for the Ashes should be fine (assuming they're showing it).
