lost and found (sort of)

For the last few years I've been getting an interest statement for some treasury bonds I inherited. I never gave them much thought, other than at tax time, but now I'm curious. All the form has as the payer is a Federal ID number. Is there any search I can do to see who it is that is holding these bonds? Thanks.

The Treasury has a good site for managing savings bonds. I'm not sure if you'll find the information you're looking for online, but it's a good place to start. (My bet is that you'll have to call their 800 number - 800-722-2678)

Actually, don't dial that 1-800 number above (I work there, that phone number is only for T-bills and Notes). Go here:

Savings Bonds Treasure Hunt

I'm not sure how much detailed information that is going to give you. For future reference, the phone number to call for assistance with Savings Bonds is 1-800-553-2663 (yes, I say that very line around 30 times per day).
