Looking for Durians and Fritessaus in SF Bay Area

Hi all! I'm looking for some very specific foodstuffs while looking in the SF bay area: fresh durians and the Dutch Fritessaus. That said, I have no idea where to start looking for these sorts of things. Where are some good places to look at for these items? Thanks!

The Chinatown in Oakland is less touristy and more functional. Just get off at the 12th or 8th St. BART stop. Enough Vietnamese shop there that you can find tropical fruit like Durian and jackfruit fresh.

Came to say Oakland Chinatown for durian as well. Lake Merritt is the BART station on 8th.

One person on Yelp asserts confidently that you'd find fritessaus in a market with a robust Indonesian section. But they can't name such a place (and neither can I). There's a very slim chance the Berkeley Bowl stocks it, but it might be worth a phone call. (They have some really random British stuff and I'm too busy telling myself I don't need an expensive bottle of Lucozade or whatever to pay attention to what else is in that aisle. I don't think they have fritessaus, but you never know.) Durian has been known to show up there too, but it'll be way cheaper elsewhere.

In SF, you can sometimes find fresh durian at a few grocery stores in "New Chinatown" on Clement Ave between about 4th and 10th St. It's usually in the bins out on the sidewalk ;-)

No idea about the fritessaus, sorry. If the Indonesian food lead is true, you can check New May Wah Market on Clement around 9th or 10th - they have a small Indonesian section.

Best answer: Both Berkeley Bowl stores carry Durian. I just saw some last week.
The large Asian groceries at Irving and 22nd or 23rd ave in the Sunset (SF) also usually have them.

Fritessaus I have no idea.

Naks oriental market in Menlo park has some Dutch stuff. Not sure about fritessaus in particular.

Best answer: Durians are definitely sold at the Ranch 99 grocery stores in the South Bay. I'm willing to bet that most Vietnamese and Filipino grocery markets will have them as well.

As for Dutch Frittesaus, maybe try World Market or a European deli/grocery, though the latter tends to carry more Russian/Eastern European stuff in my experience. Though why not just buy a bottle online?

New May Wah on Clement Street has durian. It's usually inside the door, but you can just follow your nose.
