Similar eyeglasses to Sama Underground

My husband is in the market for new glasses frames, looking for something similar to Underground model by Sama but costing under $150

So mr. nelleish needs new glasses but was unable to articulate what he wanted until we saw This is the End. Seth Rogen's glasses in the film (Underground by Sama, which you can see on the poster here) are pretty much exactly what he's after, but not at that price tag! His prescription isn't too complicated, so we'd be able to order online if there are decent return policies. We are not in a major metropolitan area unfortunately.

In a nutshell - plastic, full frame, rectangle, "but not Buddy Holly" for $150 or less. Specific recommendations, or help with how to describe those glasses during our own searches would be very appreciated.

Sounds like perusing Warby Parker would be right up his alley.

Another vote for Warby Parker -- I haven't used them, but my intern was just talking about them the other day, and he was thrilled.

You might also try coastal.com. This Derek Cardigan model looks pretty close, and there are many other similar ones.

Or if you see something at, say, LensCrafters that you like, you can make a note of the frame and model number (I just took a photo with my iPhone :P) and look it up online. I found a pair of Ralph Lauren frames I liked (coincidentally, kind of like those) and found them online for half the price -- $115.

These frames by 39dollareyeglasses.com look pretty close, as do these.

I have used Zenni Optical several times. They are way cheaper, and have lots of styles. I haven't found too much difference from my $350 pair, except for the brand name.

Nthing the recommendation for Warby Parker, but they do have limitations in what they offer in their prescriptions. You can read about that here.

Do Tortoise & Blonde's Bowery, Keyser, or Martin fit the bill?

Ordering glasses from Tortoise & Blonde was great. I tried ordering a pair of glasses from Warby Parker, and it's been a nightmare so far. But everyone else seems to love them, so ymmv.

Response by poster: Thanks so much everyone!

The lead on Warby Parker is great - my friends had used Rivet & Sway but we weren't finding something similar for men's glasses. The other suggested sites do have umpteen choices so now it's a matter of deciding what to try ordering. Much appreciate hearing the personal experiences.

Of course we welcome more ideas if they're out there!

rensar
- If you liked Pineapple Express you will LOVE This is the End. Raunchy but somehow endearing. I laughed a lot!
