What to name our RV blog?

We're transitioning into living full time in an RV and several people have expressed interest in reading a blog about our experiences. I know the kinds of things I want to write, but I'm stumped on a name.

Things about us that may help you:
  • We're from Wisconsin and we're parked in a rural area for the summer, after that I'm not sure where we're going, hopefully west
  • We have a 38 ft 5th wheel and a ginormous truck
  • We're a married couple in our late 30s/early 40s with no kids
  • We have two black cats and a lazy old dog
  • I like photography, stargazing, and going for walks on the beach (lol)
  • I love maps and geography, and when I say "love" I mean hopelessly addicted
  • He likes (auto) racing, kayaking/canoeing, and biking
  • We both like popular science fiction (Star Trek, etc.) and we both work in technology
  • I'll probably do the bulk of the writing, with guest appearances from him
Bonus question: I'm leaning towards Tumblr because I'm already familiar with it, but I'm open to suggestions. I must be able to post by email and I'd like to have the ability to use my own domain name (when I get one).

Response by poster: Note: the name "desjardins" has nothing to do with my real name or cultural background, so I'd rather not play off of that. My first name is Jennifer, his is Rick, the cats are Damon and Squeaky, and the dog is Red, if that's helpful at all.

You could also do something like "The (last name) Trek". (That worked really well on a photo album we did of a cross country family trip.)

Your list contains plenty of great titles:

I'm not sure where we're going
Hopefully West
5th wheel and a ginormous truck
Two black cats and a lazy old dog
When I say "love" I mean hopelessly addicted

I mean, each of these could be a country song.

Westward, yo

Oh, I like "Westward, Yo". You could also play on "Free Range [...]" - nerds, dinks, Xers, etc.

Can I selfishly ask that you use anything but Tumblr? Wordpress does all kinds of singing and dancing and there's an app for it and everything. You can host via wordpress or lots of hosts have quasi-automated installs (I use Dreamhost, their one-click WP install is basically effortless). I really want to read your blog, and I'm apparently too old to work Tumblr.

You've already got "cartophile", so you apparently like maps and an RV is a kind of cart, so maybe I'd work something off that.

Carting It All
One Big Cart
Maps and Carts
Cart Ho!
A Kind of Cart
Kind Carted
Our Kind Cart
A Cart on a Map
Mapping Our Cart
A Cart Big Enough
This Cart's Too Small
This Cart Carries Us
The Things We Carted
A Cart Overflowing
Our Cart Overflows

And so on.

No name suggestions, but would you leave a link to the blog when you create it? I think it would be neat to read!

Hopefully West is a really great blog name. I think it also covers the part where you're not moving to start with, but hopefully maybe have plans to do so as time goes on.

Response by poster: Aw man, I really liked "RV There Yet" but .org and .net is taken (.org is recently updated, too) and .com is a SEO placeholder. (The .net site is about a family of six in a 400 sq ft motorhome. Holy crap.) I have some backup ideas, but keep them coming.

'...What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? - it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-bye. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies...'
Is my favourite travel quote and in my dream scenario (ie yours: RV, animals, lover, open road west) I reckon these lines would capture it. 'Too-huge world vaulting' or 'leaning forward' 'receding plains' ?

Legend. Design the main graphic as the supposed legend for a map whose bottom corner is all you can see n the picture, and then use symbols like you'd see on a map's legend (taken from a real map you like, maybe the map in the header photo) as visual tags for your blog entries.

or

Arc. A part of the circumference of a circle or other curve, like the horizon in front of you. The trajectory of something launched through the air, like life from birth to death or like sailing down the highway towards some unknown destination. A homophone for ark: the ship built by Noah for all the animals, the chest containing the Ten Commandments, or just a large, commodious boat, a lot like the thing you'll be rolling down the road in. Graphics could incorporate the curve of ark and arc.
