I would like to have a collection of Dan Neil's fascinating auto reviews

Dan Neil wrote for the Raleigh News and Observer years ago (the 90s?), turning automobile review columns into art both surreal and life-affirming. I loved it, even though I hate cars. I want to buy a book of some of his reviews from that era, but I don't think it exists. Any ideas on how I could get some of his writings from that era?

Also - publisher MeFites, someone should totally publish a book of Dan Neil columns.

Have you asked him? "Email Dan at rumbleseat@wsj.com and follow him on Twitter @Danneilwsj" - from the footer of a recent column of his at the Wall Street Journal.

Response by poster: I did e-mail him -- thanks for the suggestion. Nothing yet, though.

I also tried looking for archives on the N&O web site - no luck.

Response by poster: No help? Is it truly hopeless then?
