Online solution for "Who brings what"

I need an online solution for coordinating "who is bringing what." We have a meditation gathering where 14 to 16 people come. We need 4 or 5 to volunteer to pick up different breakfast items. Frequently it turns into too many emails or duplication of efforts. (Last week was 3 people bringing fruit and no milk.)

I've got a clunky solution in a google form, but I'm looking for something simpler. I'd like a person to be able to click a link from an email, see what's left to bring and check off that they are bringing that item.

Any suggestions?

thank you!!

Have you ever used evite.com? I've used it to plan engagement parties and similar events and it was really easy to set up what needed to be brought in and for people to tick it off the list.

I've used evite for this; punchbowl also has a potluck feature.

Google spreadsheet? Or is that what you mean by a clunky google solution?

In the spreadsheet you have a list of pre-set items (examples: pastry, fruit, beverages, cereal, cutlery and plates, etc) in one column and then there's a second column to add your name and a third column to add specificity if desired (examples: muffins, fruit salad, orange juice, etc).

If you make your list of people into a google group it'll be even easier.

Volunteer Spot is just what you're looking for. Automates the reminders and is incredibly useful.

You could use doodle and instead of different dates put in different items to bring.

One way is to assign items: Last name initial A to G bring Wheaties, H to P bring Milk, Q to Z bring sugar. If you are not meeting in an eating-equipped place, suggest that people bring their own bowl and spoon. Next meeting, rotate the responsibilities.

A Shutterfly share site would work too. You can create events, then create signup sheets attached to each event and send automated emails to the site members with links to the signup sheets.

Seconding Punchbowl.

It's pretty great and the Pot Luck feature is perfect for what you're looking for.

I use http://www.luckypotluck.com. It looks like it's from the past, but it does the trick.
