Name that movie. I remember seeing a motion stop picture (i.e. with clay figures) as a kid about a guy who wanted to enter a car race with his less than spectacular oldtimer car.

I would guess I saw it near the end of the seventies. It had the look and feel of a Wallace and Gromit movie, but I can't find any W&G movies from before 1989.

That's it! I'll hunt it down now and watch it again. I remember sitting on the edge of my seat as a five year old.
