Can i buy a AT&T GoPhone to replace my mothers broken cell ?

My mother has AT&T and recently broke her cell phone. She is off contract now and would like to get a replacement before she heads out of town Without renewing. My thought was to buy a cheap AT$T GoPhone and put her SIM card in it for her to use. Some people have said that it will work fine others say that its a no-go. Just curious if any one has done this recently and how it worked out for them.

Thanks Much!

As long as the sim fits. ATT even suggested this to me as a solution to a similar problem.

Yes, I did it, buying a 3G cheapo phone to replace my broken 3G phone. No issues at all.

I did this once when I drowned a phone but the SIM card was fine. Worked fine for me!
