What isolated (canadian?) church was used in a horror movie?

I recall reading about a beautiful church that was built in a housing development. The development went bust, so the church was sitting isolated in a field. I want to say this was in Canada? I also seem to recall that it was used in a horror film for obvious reasons.

Does this ring a bell to anyone?

Thanks!

I remember when the Chruch was being built, and it's true that it stood alone in a field forever. I used to ride past it on my bike on my way upto Lake Simcoe. Creepy and stark, especially on a grey winter day. The surrounding sprawl hasn't improved the aesthetic much.

I was going to suggest "In the Mouth of Madness" as a movie with a lonely church, and it looks like that's the right one. Hooray for a brain full of random trivia!

This church is hardly isolated any more. It is being surrounded by new development in what is dubbed as "Cathedraltown" in Markham, ON.
