Scale, scale on the floor.

My new bathroom scale doesn't work.

It's one of those tap-on scales and I tap, but nothing. I just bought this one today after returning a similar one from a different brand that did the same thing, so I'm starting to think it's me and I am not using it correctly? The battery is in there (lithium battery). There are no on/off buttons. The ONLY instructions are Tap Here. Wait for 0.00. Step On.

Help.

Best answer: Usually, if consumer devices ship with a battery they have a little insert keeping the battery from making a connection. Is there a plastic or cardboard slip on the battery or in the battery compartment you can pull out?

Best answer: Did you step on it? I find that scales tend to be finicky in general, and when they say "tap" they really mean "step on me a bit, step off, step on a couple times until my numbers make sense."

Instead of tapping mine I sometimes have to lift it up my toe and set it back down on the ground.
