Up for reading a reworked Irish folktale, just in time for St. Paddy's?!

I'm helping an artist with a bookmaking project, updating "The Soul Cages" by T. Crofton Croker (1827), for a modern audience. The original story is antiquated, sexist, and anticlimactic, but my updated version tries to add both dark and satirical elements not in the original, but often in my favorite fairytales. My concerns: - Does it feel consistent? - Was the cutting too much in points? - Is it Irish enough? - Does the writing style work well? - Are there elements in the original that would be missed? - Are there corrections or changes you would recommend? The text needs to be locked down in the next few days, so many thanks for any feedback you can spare!

This post was deleted for the following reason: Sorry, AskMe does not do writing critiques. Some info on possible Mefi writing group here and here. -- LobsterMitten

Response by poster: Also, I would add... which version do you like better, and why?
