What was that game?

Trying to remember a videogame. It was an early version of those cartoon games, like Dragon-whatever, which were basically just cartoon clips linked together, and you had to do the right joystick/button thing to keep them going. It had a Japanimation look, I think a spy theme, and the only clip I definitely remember was where you were driving this little car horizontally across a basically vertical cliff. I know that's not much to go on, but it's driving me nuts...

Yea, it wasn't Dragon's Lair through. I just remember they were next to each other at my favorite arcade.

Yeah, it's definitely Cliff Hanger - taken from the popular anime series Lupin the 3rd. I played that game quite a bit back in the day, and the car chase was the first scene. Aside from driving sideways on the cliff you also had to dodge grenades being tossed at you. I always did fine until I got a few scenes in to the ninja attack. Then I always died miserably.

Cliff Hanger wasn't just from the Lupin III tv series, I believe all the footage in the game is from a single feature film, The Castle of Cagliostro, the first film directed by Hayao Miyazaki.

The vast majority of the game was from The Castle of Cagliostro, but not all of it. Unless there is a scene in Cagliostro with Goemon fighting helicopters in the sewer system with nothing but his sword. I don't remember that in the movie, but I surely remember playing that scene countless times in the game. I am pretty sure there were a few other scenes in the game taken from outside the movie as well.
