Examples of print newspapers that use photographs particularly well.

I'm looking for examples of newspapers that use photographs particularly well -- for both quality storytelling images and strong design that showcases/utilizes news photographs well.

I'm thinking of papers along the lines of The Virginian Pilot, which I have always admired for these reasons. I am also interested in papers that do regular (or less-often-but-significant) photo stories.

I'm hoping to have some really great examples for the students in my Photojournalism class. Thank you for your help!

I don't really know if there's a cut-and-dry answer for this question. But you might want to peruse the photojournalism category on Charles Apple's blog. He features a lot of front pages that utilize strong photos.

Are you familiar with the big photoblogs out there? Like In Focus or the NY Times Lens blog?

And if you're not familiar, the Newseum front page gallery is fascinating.

If you are looking for print edition I would start at the newseum website that features front pages from all over the country each day as a start. That should give you a basic idea of which papers value photography. http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/
