historical documents sri lanka, ceylon, colombo

I'm working with some folks on a theater piece and we need visual references for historical Sri Lankan / Colombo / Ceylon documents. In particular, land use maps, government documents for marriage, property, etc.

Anyone know where to get anything like this, or where to look further? A good online Sri Lankan community, e.g.? Best would be in New York, because hard copy is optimal for our purposes.

Thanks--

Maps & Maps & Maps (Colombo/Jaffna) - some historical ones are mentioned - not sure if that's what you want.

Perhaps ring the NYC consulate. They might be able to steer you towards some material...

Consulate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
630 3rd Avenue, New York, NY 10017

And then there's the New England Sri Lanka Association via slaneusa2001@yahoo.com [T: 978-275-4196]

If you're in NYC, by all means visit the Map Division of the NYPL. They have an amazing variety of documents and are extremely helpful (plus it's a beautiful old room).
