Looking for Score brand pomade...

Help me get Score (similar to Brillcreem pomade) for my dad.

So my dad's 85 this year and for the first 75 years or so of his life he put SCORE in his hair. However, the product vanished from Toronto shelves about 10 years ago. I don't know if they went out of biz or it just isn't available here or what.

Does anyone know any place that sells this stuff that I can mail order it from? Or, if it's available in your neck of the woods maybe you could buy me a case and ship it to me for cost plus an extra $25 for your trouble or something? He prefers the stuff in a tube as opposed to a can or jar.

His birthday is Sept 21 and though pomade is a pretty lame gift, I'm sick to death of him complaining about Brillcreem. The brand name of the stuff is making it impossible for me to find anything useful with Google.

You might try the Vermont Country Store. They seem to have a knack for finding stuff that you think went out of style decades ago - and they try to find special requests...at least their catalog leads one to believe they do.

Any way at all you can trace the name/hometown of the company that made Score? Do you have an old jar/bottle/label to look at? Is it Canadian-only? I haven't seen it in the US, though I admit I don't usually scour the pomade shelves.

Response by poster: I have no box, no. We weren't aware it was gonna be scarce till it already was. I have no idea who manufactured it or where it was produced.

DandyR, thanks, I've emailed them.

Here's an ad for it. I can't make out the manufacturers name though.

This forum on Yahoo for "guys into slicked back hair" might know of a source - this guy in particular claims to actually use it.

Best answer: Also - this post says that Clairol used to make it, but it is now discontinued
