Looking for a recommendation for an upholsterer who serves the upper west side? Used to use Patterson Silks, but they closed. Need couches recovered, cushions, repairs and so on, lots to do!! Around 72 nd street specifically, but quality is the watch word.

We had a great experience with Beckenstein Fabrics. They recovered a mid-century recliner for us, and also put new foam in a midcentury sofa (two back cushions and two seat cushions). They were great to work with, and had lots of fabrics to choose from. They did pick-up and delivery with no problems. We've had our stuff about a year, and so far everything has help up perfectly (although our stupid cat Sammy threw up on the chair this morning... so we'll see how well fabric stands up to spot cleaning).

I had a good experience with Dr. Sofa for a couch reupholstery + custom slipcover (to keep the kids from wrecking it again) and a chair repair. They did a good job and the price was reasonable. But I did have to travel out to their facility in the Bronx to look at the fabric books.

Not in your neighborhood, but Hector at Estilo on the lower east side does great work (that is not my review in that yelp ad, btw). I've given him some relatively high end mid-century pieces to do for my apt. and he also does a lot of stuff for bars and restaurants. I've seen him do complicated recovers of some very intricate and old pieces. He is currently based in a basement on Rivington st just east of Clinton St. His prices are great for the quality.
