Otterbox + dock = :(

Need an iPhone dock that works with the Otterbox Commuter and has good volume control..

My dock is dying. I am having a hard time finding a replacement dock that meets my needs.

I have an iPhone 4 cased in an Otterbox Commuter. I use it as my alarm clock, and my current dock sometimes stops charging in the middle of the night, so the screen goes black and the alarm doesnt go off in the morning and it's not charged when I get up.

I'm having a hard time finding a dock that works with the Otterbox because of the flap over the charging port. I really don't want to have to get a dock extender unless that's my only good option.

I also need something with very fine volume control, preferably a manual control or something where you can visibly see where the volume is set, because I need to keep the alarm very low so it wakes me but not my spouse.

Any suggestions?

If you could live with modifying the Otterbox case... Running an exacto knife or a razor blade around the flap would potentially expand your choices of dock.

I use this Phillips one with my iPhone in an Otterbox Defender. I just fold the flap back and sit the phone on - it's worked so far.

The volume is digital, not manual. It goes by what your phone is set at. Regardless, you can visibly see it when you click the volume settings.
