Question: Blog software that supports PostgreSQL

I'm interested in moving away from Moveable Type for my blog. Unfortunately, the only DBMS my webhost provides is PostgreSQL. Wordpress doesn't support it. Blosxom seems promising, but I'm behind a firewall and proxy at work, so web-based management is a must. I'm very technical; enough so that I'm considering writing my own blog CMS, and only the time investment is holding me back. What are my options? What do you recommend?

Try changing webhosts.

Well, surely it's better than writing your own software...

I'm considering that, too. But my webhost is a (talented) friend from college. It ends up being remarkably cheap (something like $10/mo), no extra charges for ssh or CGI or whatnot, essentially unlimited storage and bandwidth, and really fast support. But he's anti-MySQL (for some holy-war reason that I'm not interested in arguing further with him). If it comes down to it, moving webhosts might be a possibility, but I'd like to look at CMS options first..

It looks like there are a couple of plugins for Blosxom that provide a web frontend for posting new entries. This might be the Simplest Thing That Could Possibly Work.

MovableType has full PostgreSQL support, as noted on the features page.

The 3.2 final version should be out any day now, it's quite spiffy and about 100x less prone to spam right out of the box. Give it a try.

Though I'm a big fan of Postgres, you're missing out on a crapload of software that only supports MySQL. Personally, I love WordPress and wouldn't trade it for anything else. I'm paying $10/month for 750MB disk space, 5GB bandwidth (I rarely use more than a gig), SSH, CGI, etc.

Typo supports PostgreSQL. If you're up for a Rails app and/or a somewhat adventurous install, its the one for you. Its pretty competitive with WordPress in the features category.

Have you tried this version of Wordpress?

Thanks for the great answers. My webhost actually saw this thread (I think I know how), and emailed me to tell me that MySQL 4.0 is actually available. But this thread has introduced me to a few really great alternatives to MT and WP that I might try out, anyhow.
