Outlook 2003 question

Why when I create a new email and type in the message body ... it turns into a thick vertical line?

Was it working fine before and this just started happening or is this the first time you've used Outlook? If it was working fine before, try restoring your system to an earlier point (assuming you're using XP).

Have you done the Office updates? They sure have made a lot of improvements...

Response by poster: This is not something that is broken it is obviously a feature that can be turned off somewhere. It like some type of keyboard shortcut to that symbol.

Are you using Word as your email editor ? If so, shut that off, it causes all sorts of headaches.

Do you mean when you type "..."? Try Tools > Auto Correct Options. It could be trying to replace ... with a single ellipsis font glyph. In the options dialog you can control what bits of text it replaces with other stuff. If you are missing the glyph it might appear as a box.
