Is there a IMAP Mail Checker for Mac OSX?

Is there a mail checker App for OSX Mountain Lion that doesn't require the Mac Mail App to be open?

I'm looking for a small menu bar App that will check my IMAP accounts when Mail is closed..

Sparrow can sit in the menu bar and check IMAP accounts.

There is herald which pops up a notification window when new mail arrives. It is a plugin for Mail.app which must be running, but Mail can be hidden or minimized.

Best answer: Notify has been discontinued, but is quite good. I can send you the zip file if you memail me, if you can't find it elsewhere (they posted it for free after they discontinued it, but now it appears to be gone altogether).

Try MacBiff. It it works with IMAP but it polls; it doesn't implement IMAP IDLE. It can talk to Growl, or launch Mail or another app, as well as just alerting. One glitch that has persisted: once in a while (weeks or longer) it disables itself. Workable as long as you're aware of it.

Thunderbird will work with IMAP.
