Question: Cross-platform (Android and iOS/iPad) annotation of ebooks

Do you have a workflow for cross-platform annotation (Android and iOS/iPad) of ebooks? Is there a particular note-taking app that will work with DRMed ebooks AND sync my notes across tablets?

In an ideal world, I'd highlight/take notes/annotate the ebook on my iPad and have those notes magically show up when I open the same ebook on the Android tablet. Is this easy to do, or hard?

I keep my digital library on both Dropbox and gdrive. My reading apps are the same between all my devices so my notes are synced with the original book file.

I agree, Dropbox works really well for PDFs. But I'm having trouble with, say, a DRM-ed Nook ebook. Short of jailbreaking them, converting to a PDF I could then store on Dropbox, are there apps that would let me sync annotations without breaking DRM? My sense is that there aren't... ?

You have tried calibre? My digital library is made up of various ebook file types and I do not have a problem with them in drop box or gdrive.

I think I am going to have to make the move to Calibre. I was hoping there might be some sort of solution without fiddling with file conversions, but it seems unlikely. Thanks, all.
