Where is he now?

What happened to Samuel Fussell?
I just finished reading "Muscle" by Fussell, and aside from another book published in the late 90s, and a blurb on "Ultramarathon Man," I can't find anything about what happened to him between 91 and now.

I've wondered that myself from time to time.
Apparently he lives in Philadelphia and has lunch on Fridays with his father and stepmother. (sorry, I don't know how to make links leap to the middle of a web page.) Says he's a writer, but who knows what ills that moniker may cover? (How much time must pass after your last by-line before calling yourself a writer is absurd and embarassing?)
Perhaps he sells to Hollywood, where I hear you can make a nice living without ever getting anything produced. There is, it turns out, a stage version (musical, no less) loosely based on his book. The title: Muscle. Cruel review available here

(What's the second book? I can find nothing.
I did, however, find this at the NYPublic Library, for anyone who finds the musical of interest. Apparantly Sondheim was initially attached to the project but dropped out. There's got to be a good story about this thing)

That's brilliant. Saying you're a "writer" is for creative people like saying you're a "consultant" is for collary moneyish types.
