Question: L.A. landscaper needed

Looking for a top-notch Los Angeles landscaper.

I have a large property with mature trees and plants that are way overgrown in the Hollywood area. The yard, which sits on four city lots, is in shambles. The yard has been abandoned for almost two years. Plants are dying, weeds everywhere, etc. Huge potential, but needs a good eye and knowledge of plants for the area. I need to whip this property into shape, and am seeking to work with an excellent and creative landscaper. I just moved to Los Angeles, so my network of contacts is kind of small, and thought I'd throw this request out to the Meta community.

I do believe I know someone who fits that description (I'm in Hollywood as well) but their name escapes me at the moment. I'll ask around and MeMail you if I can remember a name.

In the meantime it might not be too crazy to drive around Los Feliz (arguably the best landscaped neighborhood in the Hollywood area) and just straight up ask people who does their yard.

If ShutterBun's recommendation (or others) don't work out, you might try Angie's List, especially if you're going to be doing lots of work on the house.

I knew I could count on Metafilter to help ignite my brain. So I yelped (instead of Angied) landscapers in the Los Feliz area, and lo, there is one that people claim does genius artistic work.

I think I'm about to embark on a massive construction project, too. So when time comes I'll def join Angie's. Thanks for the reminder, sharkfu!

Tara, the woman who runs Silverlake Farms is an amazing landscaper who specializes in two things: native plants and vegetable gardens. She's worth a look (and, coincidentally, is in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area).
