where to find cheap, funny theatre in NYC?

I recently saw "The Best of Everything" at HERE, and it was wonderful. What other Manhattan or near-Brooklyn venues can I check for cheap, well-done theatre that is funny and yet not without substance?

In case people want to recommend specific productions rather than just theatres, other plays I like include The Pillowman, Pygmalion and The Importance of Being Earnest. I really hate the everyone-laugh-at-the-protagonist sort of humor found in, say, Superbad and The Office.

Soho Rep

Rattlestick

Labryinth

The Mint

The Civilians

Clubbed Thumb

Also you can volunteer usher for almost every off-broadway theatre and see shows for free.
