Dealing with a US collections agency when not in the US?

Had a US collections agency pop up on my credit report saying that I owe them an amount less than $100. This question has been asked before, but one twist in my situation: I am currently living and working outside of the United States.
I've been out of the States for a couple of years now, so I'm not even sure where this charge is coming from. I'm not planning on returning to the US anytime soon, but I was wondering what the best course of action would be. Can I force the collections company to send verification of the debt to my address in Asia? When disputing the claim to the three credit bureaus, I need to do it via snail mail, right?
I'm wondering what the best course of action would be given my situation. Any help would be very much appreciated.

If they come back with information, great.
Most of the credit bureaus have on-line dispute processes now.
