Zire 72 digitizer problem

The digitizer on my Palm Zire 72 is going nuts. I've tried the programs that reset the digitizer each time I turn it off, but the problem persists. The usual causes seem to be physical, but this problem started occurring right after a hot sync.

What do you mean by "going nuts"?

Check around the frame of the screen to make sure there isn't some gunk lodged between the two. This can easily throw off the digitizer and confuse it. If you do see something, first try to carefully remove it with a straight pin, but if it gets too difficult, it might need to be opened up and cleaned.

I've tried cleaning around the edge of the screen. Perhaps I need to open it and make sure.

As to the question of "going nuts", what I mean is that when you press the stylus to the screen, the point where it is digitized is off, sometimes by as much as a quarter inch. Sometimes nothing happens at all when you try to hit a link.
