I'm shocked and embarrassed to admit how quickly my life has begun to fall apart after discontinuing ADHD treatment. Is anyone aware of a physician in the greater Columbus or Cleveland metropolitan areas that A) is not opposed to specifically prescribing Adderall for ADHD - please, no "you don't need medication!" pep talks or alternate treatment recommendations, B) is sufficiently reasonably priced that an uninsured person could afford treatment, and C) is accepting new patients without long waiting periods? Your help is sincerely appreciated.

Two options to get you over the waiting period hump if you can't get in to see a psychiatrist right away. These are both assuming you have had a previous, recent script for Adderall. IME, usually there is a bit of a wait to see a psych doc who can fit the uninsured's budget.

When was the last time you filled your old prescription? If you had a recent prescription, sometimes your pharmacist can give you a 30-day supply without physician approval. I would call your pharmacy and explain the situation and see if they can help get you back on meds while you wait to see a psychiatrist.

Do you have a primary care doctor/clinic? Could you go in for an office visit and explain that you had been on Adderall before, it helped you and you would like to try it again while you wait to see a psych?

Provided you saw the doc fairly recently/were taking Adderal under their supervision fairly recently, most docs will do this for you, with very few questions asked. Beyond that, you can always explain your situation, and they may agree even if you're not so recent a patient, if you, um, don't come off like you're trying to get it to sell it.

Schedule II drugs (Adderall and the like) require a physical copy of the prescription to be filled.

Your best bet is to ask the previous prescribing physician to write you a Rx and have it mailed to you if you are not nearby to pick it up.

I saw Dr. Rakesh Ranjan when I was in Cleveland. I believe his office is now over my Mary Mount Hospital in Garfield Hts. It's been years since I've seen him, but the whole time I was there, he was taking new patients. He got me from filing for SSDI to working full time.
