Time off for no reason

I'd like to quit my job. There's nothing wrong with the job, I just want to live without working for a while.
I've been at my job for 5 years. It's been going fine but I am not happy in my life. I'm thinking seriously about giving notice and taking time off from working, maybe up to a year. I have savings to let me pay my bills for that length of time, if I live frugally. I'd like to enjoy reading, exercising, cooking my meals. I'd like to think about what direction to go with my life, though I'm not hopeful I'll come up with anything better than going back to what I was doing. Even if that's case, it seems to me that at least I will have had this period of doing things that are meaningful to me. I'm single and in my 30s.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, it's really not clear what you're actually wanting to know here. Maybe reframe this as a specific question or dilemma you need help with and give it another shot? -- cortex
Is this a question? It doesn't appear to be a question.

Are you asking if this is a good idea? If so, no, this is not a good idea. You can think about your "life direction" while being gainfully employed.
