Oh noes. This time, it's Slverlight.

Please help me install Silverlight on my wife's MacBook.

My wife has one of those aluminum MacBooks (not MacBook Pro), and it is running Snow Leopard. She cannot watch (the horrible show I passionately hate, but she loves, Grey's Anatomy) on Netflix because Silverlight is not installed.

The problem is that Silverlight will not install. Each time I have tried to install it, the installation aborts, simply telling me that the installation failed.

I have deleted every Library file referencing Slverlight. I have deleted Application Helpers. I have rebooted. I have repaired Permissions. I have even tried installing an older version. Nothing works.

Since I am the guy who accidentally wiped his wife's iPhone, I would love to be able to fix this problem, so my wife can again watch reruns of that miserable show, and I can stop sleeping on the couch.

Help?

Can't say for sure what's wrong, but here's a comprehensive list of steps to uninstall Silverlight.

What browser are you using? I have run into probs trying to get SIlverlight to work on Chrome on my 2006 Mac running 10.6.3 (I don't think Silverlight is supported on Mac Chrome), so I just use Firefox instead.

Response by poster: @Tandem Affinity: I'm using Firefox as well.

O9scar: Thanks for the link. I tried those instructions, but the files it says to delete were already deleted.

empath: Here is the console log, minus the binary images I'm leaving out because I'm afraid they would be too long:

When you mount the Silverlight DMG, just before you launch the installer, does the path mentioned in the NSTask error exist? Maybe you somehow have a corrupt DMG and need to re-download it.

Response by poster: Sadly, no. I've downloaded it a dozen times, with the same thing happening each time.
