Attention sewers of AskMe: Can you help me with this Daft Punk/vintage swimmer costume?

For Halloween, my friends and I are dressing up as characters from the Around the World video.

I am going to be the swimmer, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find the correct pattern/tutorial for the job. I've seen a lot of vintage ones, but what I need is:

+ a swimsuit/one piece/leotard
+ higher neck (I've seen a lot of halters)
+ lower on the legs--NOT high cut
+ and a zippered back

I have the fabric and some basic skills--I just need some directions!

Help make our Halloween costume awesome. Thanks!

Best answer: Have you seen this Kwik Sew Pattern? That's where I'd start. It gives you the zipper and the legs look pretty low cut. I'd just play around with the neckline and armcyes a bit and leave off the skirt. Tape the pattern pieces together where the skirt inserts and treat them as one piece, if that makes sense?

Maybe Jalie 2683. It's got the back zipper you need. I'd tape the panty and bodice parts together and ignore the skirt. it should be fairly easy to make the leg holes lower. (maybe check out the back of the envelop drawing of Jalie 2796 to see what the pattern piece looks like.

I'd buy some cheap spandex with the same stretch and do a muslin first though to check the leg height and also torso length! (I have to add 2 inches length to the bodice of my daughter's skating dresses. Otherwise they're too tight despite being the right size based on waist/hips/bust.

Response by poster: Thanks for the answers so far, guys!

The Kwik Sew looks closest to what I want with the least amount of changing. For me, leaving things off (i.e. the sleeves and skirt) seems much simpler than trying to fiddle around with necklines and whatnot.

But by all means if others have any suggestions, please keep 'em coming!
