"Best" wet cat food available at Kroger or similar?

I know, I know I PREFER WELLNESS - but the cats are just home from the vet after a rousing bout of lily poisoning, and while our vets say they can eat anything, after 4 days of eating wet food at the vet's, they're less than enthused about the Natural Balance Please Don't Get Fat food they usually eat.

The only place open late enough around here for us to get cat food is Kroger. What is the best food we can get there? Kroger doesn't seem to list these things on their website. TYIA.

Fancy feast. Not Wellness, but generally low in grains and high in protein. I think the turkey, beef, and chicken flavors are better than the fishy ones in that regard.

Also, I'm really sorry about the lily thing. That's awful. I'm glad they're recovering.

Just check the ingredients. Choose something with something decent as the first ingredient and not too many fillers or grains. Check out Consumer Search for a good rundown of what to look for in pet food.

Not so sure about it's health value, but as a treat, the kitty loves loves loves Whiskas Favorite Selections. They make her bonkers.

Note: Favorite Selections, not Chef's Selections. The former is much stinkier and squishier and disgusting, so it is the superior kitty treat.

Please provide a photo, thanks.

HA. Cat pictures, required. Beware, this flickr set has photos of my cat post surgery for removing his leg (cancer! lily poison! he has 7 lives now) -- My boy -- Our girl.

Wow, I didn't realize how many photos I just put right on facebook until I had to find one of Daeva.

My cat eats natural life, which is available at walmart and some supermarkets. The times I've been unable to get that (which is pretty much a runner-up choice since he won't eat stuff like wellness), Fancy Feast gluten free varieties do in a pinch.

Newman's Own isn't something I would have thought of, so I'm looking to see if that is available near by. Also taking advice on what to do with hissy girl cat, who came home yesterday. She's being a real piece of work to her brother, who I am sure still smells like the vet, but seriously you guys . . .you were in there together!

Fancy Feast is the best supermarket brand I've found, and my awesome vet agrees. Looking at the cans now, the first filler is either the 3rd or 4th ingredient in after the first few meaty ones.

FWIW the hubs is looking for Newman's Own on his way home, but otherwise we will feast fancily.

There are maybe three different textures of Fancy Feast - you might want to pay attention to that in case your cats won't eat, say, "chunks" or "slices". "Classic" is usually safest if you're not sure. Some cats will lick off the gravy around chunks or slices, but leave the actual chunks behind.

Also -- Beech Nut brand meat baby food, turkey, is a go-to item for feeding fussy feral cats because it's very very delicious for cats. Kroger carries Beech Nut brand but Harris Teeter doesn't. _Don't_ get baby food that has other ingredients, includes gravy, etc. -- onion is toxic for cats. The straight turkey or chicken with no other ingredients is what you want.

I mention Beech Nut because I've been unable to find pure turkey or chicken Gerber brand baby food -- Gerber varieties, as well as whatever they have at Whole Foods, always seem to include onion.

Fancy Crack. Our kitties LOVE it! They share a can in the evening (and have crunchies all day). It doesn't last any longer than a fart in a whirlwind.

If your kitties are being super-picky, get the kitten kind, it has more fat and thus is much more delicious. Be careful though, they may protest when you try to switch them off of it.
