RSS to SMS?

How can I get SMS text alerts from an RSS/atom feed?
I've been trying to buy an Atwood tool, but the guy who makes them only sells in small batches, which are announced by posts on his blog. They sell out every time in 15-20mins, and I haven't been able to catch one yet. I tried to set up SMS alerts via this service, which apparently doesn't work with his blog set up, I think because the only feed is over atom? I don't know. Other RSS to SMS services that I've found with google-fu appear to be defunct, or now offer only RSS to email.
Is there another service out there that will do pretty much instant RSS to SMS and will work on this specific blog? Or is there a fairly basic custom solution to this problem that I could set up myself? I have zero to very limited programing skills, but Im great at following step-by-step directions.

There are (at least) two feeds on the site...have you tried using this one with the smsmyrss service? It specifies RSS rather than Atom:

If you can do RSS to e-mail, you can do RSS to SMS (if the email you get is just a short one). Just send it to the SMS Gateway based on your carrier and phone number, and you'll get something.

If This Then That (IFTTT) should be able to do this, and it's dead simple to set up as long as the blog has a valid RSS feed. Unfortunately, it's not totally instant -- the tool will only check the blog for updates every 15 mins (last time I checked).

I tried that alt=rss feed too, it missed this morning's update, no luck there. Ill try IFTTT and hope every 15mins is enough
