Free or Low-Cost Anonymous Counseling in New York City?

My mom nearly died the other day. The doctors don't have a clue what's wrong with her. And, I'm at the end of my wits.
This however, isn't the place to chat about that. So...

Anywhere in NYC, that I can to find someone who isn't just a random nutjob to get some counseling from?
(Faith-based is OK, but, not exactly my first preference.)

Well, if you're Catholic, you could find a good priest. They're always free, and I think they have some training for these things. They certainly have experience.
