Question: Trying to find a mid 1990s crime novel I once read?

Trying to find a book from the mid 1990s. It was about a painter/criminal who gets involved with stealing high tech stuff from big wigs, rich people, and his accomplice was a cocaine addict, I believe the character's name was Annie. They would break into houses and steal hard drives, if I am remembering correctly. One time they kill a guard dog in some dudes house, and another time Annie gets shot by some thug with a zippo lighter pistol. Eventually they are confronted by I think the FBI in a hotel room. The cover was a tech Matrixy looking cover, matte black with shiny red lettering. Any ideas? I swear it was a two word title that was futuristic, computery sounding. Read it when I was in like 5th 6th 7th grade when I was about 11 or 12. Any help would be much appreciated thank you.

Could this be one of the Kidd novels by John Sandford?

This is "The Fool's Run" by John Sandford.
Sidekick is LuEllen, who occasionally does cocaine.
.22-in-a-Zippo scene is on page 151 of the paperback.

John Sandford is my favorite author - the rest of this series is good, and it's held up well considering it's techy/espionage stuff written 10+ years ago.
