Why have Tumblr and Typepad got me stuck in an infinite LogIn loop?

I log into Tumblr, it flashes the dashboard for a fraction of a second and then reverts back to the log in page, attempt again, clear cache, cookies and then try. Rinse, repeat.

The same is happening with Typepad. It was working fine and this just started happening. No change made to browsers or OS.

Firefox, adblock plus, ghostery, win XP on an ASUS netbook.

I don't know about those sites specifically, but on other sites when this has happened it was because I had disabled acceptance of third-party cookies.

Response by poster: I have third party cookies enabled. And have tried this even with turning both ghostery and adblock plus off. They were working fine yesterday although I'd not been logged out of tumblr till today.

Can you try/have you tried a different browser? That would at least help narrow it down to a browser problem vs some other computer issue.

Response by poster: Got tumblr working - how or why, I don't know. Just started everything over and it went through. Typepad still sending me round in circles.

I had this happening because an extension was blocking a captcha on Tumblr. Not sure which of my blocking-type extensions was at fault (it appeared to be Ghostery but disabling it didn't help). Logging in from Chrome worked.
