Trying to find the title/author of a book called, I think, "The Kids' Thesaurus". It was not a thesaurus.

It was a book about some kids who steal a thesaurus from the library, and how their widened vocabularies improve their lives.
You either know the book from this description, I expect, or don't, but I'll include a few other salient details.
One of the 'kids' was rich. She bought new thesauruses (thesauri?) for all the kids at the end of the book.
There was another girl whose parents were splitting up. She ended up being running away from home, and was finally found hiding under the stage in the school's auditorium. Maybe she was the rich girl? Maybe under the stage was where all the kids hung out?
Another kid used chewing gum to stick the thesaurus to his head while skateboarding. His father put the book in the freezer overnight so he could chip the gum off, and used peanut butter to get the gum out of the kids hair. That kid also somehow, accidentally, left a shirt with the rich girl, and the rich girl's maid washed and starched it, and the shirt owner was fascinated by how stiff it was.
There was one other boy, and he was getting picked on by bullies and he used list of words that he'd found in the thesaurus to insult them so shockingly that they left him alone.
I think this was geared towards maybe 6th graders. How to Eat Fried Worms, etc.
