Seeking helpful tax professional in Durham/Chapel Hill?

It's time to hire help for tax stuff. Any recommendations (including self-recommendations, if you want) for someone around Durham-Chapel Hill, NC? Need help with: working in multiple states (NYC, RTP), lots of travel & business expenses (probably including deductions we don't know about) and maybe other stuff.
I guess we need a good accountant who will help us not have to file for an extension out of sheer overwhelmedness, and will help my dude (domestic partner) with whether he should be tracking his expenses differently.
He (and me, too) should probably start soon to avoid the rush -- this seems like a good time to do so.
We'd prefer a traditionalist who won't insist we use Quicken or any other cloud-based system (We have Peachtree Accounting but don't use it, also Moneydance for recording daily expenses). Also, if he or she were willing to consult by phone or e-mail that would be great.
The above, though, is less important than that the person be smart and interested; we've tried just asking for referrals from friends, but they usually say that their accountant is just so-so. And the work situation this year is unusual.
I have my own tax stuff to work on, and have promised to help find someone for us both.
