Pants Question

What color/kind of shoes would go best with some casual white pants.

I have a lovely pair of white express pants, but I'm having a tizzy of a time finding a shoe that really goes with white pants, so fashion-savants help me!

Black or brown leather shoes would be my choice. Preferably a nice brown shoe with a good shirt off setting the brown, maybe a baby blue.

Warhol or Magritte would be my choice, with no shirt.

Casual white shoes, no socks. But be careful to find a shade of white that matches.

Bucks and a seersucker jacket over a button-down white shirt.

Or nice flip flops and a seersucker jacket over a hip 'n' funky t-shirt.

Definitely a brown or dark tan loafer, slip-on or smart sandal.

What color is your top? I would try to aim for something similar in color to whatever you're wearing on top.

Best answer: It really depends on the event and the rest of the outfit.

If it is a casual outdoors event I'd go for a light brown soft soled shoe, even if its a cook-out. Perhaps a nice pair of leather sandals if it's a beach event.

If the event is formal enough to demand/suggest a suit, I wouldn't wear white pants at all. Sear suckers are the only exception, but they only work during summer (a cousin of mine wore a smashing sear sucker to an outdoor wedding last month, he looked great).

You can go here for some general shoe advice or here for some matching options. Actually that is just a good men's fasion page in general.

Also remember, your shoes should match your belt but they only need to complement your clothing not match it. Black shoes look great with a navy suit and a colorful shirt (one solid color mind you, not a pattern), but navy (or God forbid colorful) shoes with that outfit? Not so good.

And I'm sorry (my sarcasm meter may be broken) but I would avoid white shoes with no socks like the plague, (unless you want to look like a lost extra from Miami Vice).

I have a tan pair of Doc Martens shoes that look really good with white pants. Black or dark brown shoes always seem like too big a change from the white pants.

Sperry Top-siders, +/- socks.

Casual white pants = nice sandals
White dress pants = military. under 14 years old or not at all (personal not fashion statement)
