What are some stories camp kids can tell on a podcast?

What would be some good radio monologues to have kids read for a sleep-away camp podcasting group?

Right now I'm working as a camp counselor at a Jewish sleep away camp with kids between 4th and 7th grade. I'm running a podcasting group and I had the idea of having the kids do storytelling like you would find on "The Moth" or "This American Life".

Besides having the kids think up and write their own stories (a possibility which I may go with, I'm just not sure if we have enough time) does anyone know of a place to find suitable monologues or something of that nature? Not really sure what I'm looking for, but I figured I may as well see if anyone knows of anything good. Thanks!

Bonus points for something related to Judaism or Israel!

Why not take a short novel and serialize it? The kids should pick the book; they'll be more into it if it's something they already like. Or do short stories?

What about ghost stories? That would go perfectly with camp. Every kid knows (or SHOULD know) at least one good ghost story.

there was a book series of a nickelodeon tv series called are you afraid of the dark that did something like this. you can probably find the books pretty cheaply now, and maybe have each chapter be a separate podcast? if they read the chapters ahead of time, they can try to come up with sound effects (i.e. creaking stairs, etc) for it and stuff.

they could also do podcasts of themselves and their typical family/daily life, including what jewish traditions and things that they incorporate into their day to day existence.

I once saw a seventh grader do a monologue that was the first chapter of the book Superfudge and she pulled it off really well. Maybe chapters from the Fudge books? Or if you want a Jewish angle, any of the All-of-aKind Family books might be good, depending on whether or not the kids are into historical stories.

Public Radio International broadcasts a short story podcasts from New York City's "Symphony Space" and their weekly program "Selected Shorts." Great short stories, read with great voices. It looks like their feed keeps the last 5 episodes.
