Anybody know the best place to sell or trade used CDs in New York City? Where they take almost everything (that's in new condition) with no hassle?

Could you use something like www.half.com? You would have to list the items and ship them when someone purchases them individually. I don't know how quickly you would need cash, but this wouldn't be instant...

I would recommend reselling through Amazon or Half. I know of no shops that won't rip you off in NYC.

Paging Jonmc. Jonmc to the AxMe aisle.

Also: eBay.

How about any one of the Kim's Mediapolis outposts? I've sold some CDs of mine at the 113th St and Broadway Kim's and it was a relatively painless procedure. Then again, I didn't really care how much money I got - I just wanted to darn things out of my house.

Half or Amazon are a good option, but I didn't have much luck when I posted my items to sell on Half.com.

If you don't want to ebay them individually (which is a major pain in the ass, both listing and shipping), consider breaking them into similar lots: classic rock, alterna-rock, pop, etc.

Don't expect to get much for pre-owned CDs no matter how you try to sell them.

"take almost everything (that's in new condition) with no hassle?"

One rule of thumb, the more recent the release, the less trade-in value it has.

a friend of mine got so fed up with taking his CDs around to shops in NYC and being told 'we'll take these 3' (out of 100) that he just ripped them all (600-700) and then set the discs on the curb. (he kept a few sentimental favorites.) the places he went to didn't even want to take the whole lot for a few bucks, or even for free. which i can kind of understand - there are a hell of a lot of crappy used CDs floating around out there, and most used shops are flooded with crap that no one wants - even if it was REALLY EXCITING to get any free promo CD from your pal at the college radio station in college (in the 80s or 90s)...
