Help me pick the best family home movie montage music.
I'm in the process of taking the last 10 years of family home movies and photos and making a video for my family. Of course, these types of videos are always better with awesome music.
Give me your ideas for music that makes family memories seem that much cooler. Looking for mostly upbeat tunes but am open to all ideas!

Best answer: A little on-the-nose, but what about Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes.

Herb Alpert makes for great people-doing-things music for anything that's a little silly. Like pretty much anything with kids in it. Example.

You should absolutely do a short outtakes/gag reel to something heinously awful like Who Let The Dogs Out.

Obviously the only good music for this purpose is the worst or least appropriate music. Maybe "Jump" by Van Halen or "In the Air of the Night" by Genesis. Captain Beefheart?

I think it'd be awesome if you could work Chariots of Fire in there.

If you're married, "This is Us" is what you're looking for to celebrate your experiences together. (Live on Letterman--you'd probably want the [excellent] album version.)

Maybe try some Leon Redbone (Aw You Salty Dog) or old school swing/jazz. I tend to think you can't go wrong if there is a banjo involved.

Louis Armstrong singing "What a Wonderful World"...
Someone I knew who did a lot of convert-to-DVD work back in the late-90s/early-00s often put movies and slideshows of kids to "Over the Rainbow/What A Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, to make every mom all misty-eyed and such.

The Zombies' "This Will Be Our Year" seems to work perfectly for this home video montage.
