Source a quote about the pace of technology advances?

Years ago -- perhaps the mid-80s? -- I came across a prediction to the effect that "Technology will never again advance as slowly as it is advancing today."

I seem to recall that the speaker was a C-level officer of a technology company. For some reason, Akai sticks in my head -- the company? The speaker's name? Both my memory and my Google-fu are letting me down.

Can anyone help identify/source this quote?

It's a pretty generic statement that has been true since the Renaissance. I'm not sure it's attributable to any single person.

It could be anyone discussing Moore's law.
