What to do in Cheyenne with a 10 year old?
Going to Cheyenne, Wyo. today for a day trip with a 10 year-old. Any suggestions of places to go, visit and eat. He has an interest in the Wild West and guns too! 1 or 2 places for adult would be appreciated too.

Also: there's the Cheyenne Gunslingers - they do a performance pretty much every day that involves a reenactment of a gunfight and other Old West stuff. I've never seen it, but I remember hearing about them when I lived in Wyoming. Their website is atrocious, but if you scroll down enough you'll see where the reenactments are located, dates and times, etc.

I really enjoyed the Wyoming State Museum. IIRC, it's focused on artifacts of the Wild West. Plenty of guns. Bonus: admission is free.

I spent a pretty good chunk of my childhood in the back of a minivan in Wyoming.
Vedauwoo looked like Mars to a ten year old meāstill does today. You might as well stop at Tree-in-a-rock, which is on the way from Laramie. Same with the giant Lincoln Head, which caused me to be confused about Lincoln's home state for some years.
Any chance you'd be there during Frontier Days?
As far as food, you can pretty much expect mediocre diner and chain type places. I might be showing my city girl tastes here, but I cant think of any great meals I've had in Cheyenne, and only one in Wyoming in general. (Should you find yourself in Laramie then go to The Prairie Rose Cafe and get anything with the green chili sauce, which luckily is half the menu.)

I visited Cheyenne when I was 10 for Frontier Days and it is pretty much one of my fondest memories growing up. Pretty much everything about it was great, though. It was like walking around in a cowboy movie. I don't have any kind of specific recommendations, but anything involving horses was my favorite.
