DSL service in southwestern Ontario (Hamilton)

I'm sick of the getting locked in with Bell's contracts and I don't have cable access (I have satellite). I'm looking at Distributel since I have long distance with them or perhaps Acanac. Does anyone have any experience with any of these providers or can recommend any other smaller providers.

Best answer: We found ours through this site, which includes rankings (I went ahead and put Hamilton in there for you, but you might want to fiddle with it a bit--here).

DSL Reports is also a really good place to start looking. They have user reviews, forums, what have you. They are an American site but they have a thriving section of Canadian ISPs.

Best answer: Um, sorry about that. I've been using Teksavvy for over a year, can't recommend them enough. I've been paying about $25 a month (student rate), and I think they have a good long distance deal for Ontario as well (I'm in Quebec). I've had few problems, only those I've caused myself, and a real person always answers the phone when I call tech support. This small thing makes me infinitely happy.

Definitely check them out. They are reasonably priced, don't require contracts, and the people who work for the company are friendly and helpful.

Another vote for Teksavvy. Anyplace I've seen this question asked, they've come out on top. If you already have a DSL connection, call them up and they can have you up and going on their network within a matter of minutes.
