Specialized Art Appraisers in NYC

I'm looking for advice on selling locally in NYC an authentic, hand-sown wall hanging art. Here is a picture I uploaded. It depicts a village and some villagers, and I recall its origins being from India or Southeast Asia. The piece is about 20 years old and was received as a gift so I have no clue if it is a prized work or relatively worthless. Are there specific types of art dealers or specialists that will appraise and/or bid on these kinds of items?

Looked woven to me, and rather like tourist art from South America. is it wool? Here's a rather more detailed one.

Best answer: Yeah, I'd say based on the hats and overgarments that the people are wearing, that's Peruvian or Andean, not Indian or Asian. I almost wonder if it was a touristy thing made by an Anglo person though, as I can't find a lot of pieces that are similar in style and construction that are easily identifiable as being "indigenous" art. Here's what Ebay yielded:

Item 1
Item 2
Item 3
Item 4
Item 5

Response by poster: I think you both are correct that the piece is actually South American in origin.

The material is heavy and rough and feels like wool. It definitely looks pretty similar to some of the linked items. Those links are really helpful as indicative market price information.

Thanks!
