Dog-friendly long weekend trip north of Chicago?

Destinations for memorial day weekend trip north of Chicago with a 75 lb dog?

We have in mind a small town on a lake, or a cabin in a forest, in Ontario, Michigan, or Wisconsin. No more than a 7-8 hour drive from Chicago. Any suggestions for destinations or accommodations?

Door County. Gills Rock is my fav, but nearly anywhere on the bay side of the peninsula works.

Right at the edge of what you want, distance-wise, but Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is paradise for dogs and people this time of year.

I'm going to Chain O Lakes state park in IL. pretty close, but has the small town on a lake and cabins in the campground.

I used to work in this area and would love to go back to visit - Camp Wandawega, Elkhorn WI

Or check out the Indiana State Parks Inns - pretty amazing system of old-school summer resort type places. We were at Potawatiomi Inn this spring and saw families there with dogs (I think pet owners stay in the cabins rather than the main hotel).
